Anne Clisby Architects was tasked with designing the interiors and landscape of a small 400 sq metre block in Linden Park, Adelaide. The client wanted an environmentally conscious, Balinese-style tropical retreat that could accommodate many pieces of furniture and evoke memories of travel. The design includes special features such as an indoor-outdoor free-standing bath that opens into a private bamboo-lined Japanese courtyard.

The verge is planted with Australian natives and South African plants that can withstand hot summer days, and the outdoor areas include shaded spaces and direct access to the kitchen. The lush garden combines water-wise native and carefully selected exotic species to create a tropical oasis feel.
